Early Childhood education – All you need to know in 2022

The world is getting back to Pre pandemic situation in 2022. The worldview has undergone a sea change in the past 2 years and we are realizing the learning gaps that have crept in 2022.

The new academic session is fast approaching, we need to remember that in early childhood education we have to strengthen the basics and plug the learning gaps.

1. a) The basics be its motor skills, perceptions, social skills and emotional needs,  we have to plug the wide gap of two years of schools closure which is coldly staring at us and we must act now in 2022 to plug it.
2. b) I was amazed to note that children who recently met us in our school complex were reluctant to maintain eye contact and were reluctant to leave safe haven of their parent’s lap.

Motor skills have taken a back seat and the children’s comfort zone appears to be around cell phones as their nimble fingers go clickety-click on the keys. It was a rude shock to see that they built their world around the cell phone.

To large extent, parents were helpless, as the offices and all other work were digitalized and they were dealing with the double pressure of holding onto their jobs and completing the targets.

Much beyond normal working hours, they bought peace for carrying on their work by occupying the child with screen be it on TV, Computer, Tabs or cell phone.

This isolation became a virtual reality for the child in absence of normal school and interface with teachers and friends.

Now is the time we have to carefully plan developmental activities for early childhood education to smoothy ease out the gaps of 2020-2021 in 2022.

We must keep in mind developmental activities and checklists, for 3-5 years …

1)  How to develop Children’s phonemic awareness

2)  Extra phonic activities

3)  Focus on different stages of phonemic awareness according to age.

4)  Aural discrimination asks the children to identify the individual sounds in a word.
