Best way to improve vocabulary

Power of words – we all  know what we speak or write has an impact on people and children around us . If we jumble up lot of words & lay them out on tray to serve  the children words  like – Great , Wonderful , super , Stupendous , Respect , Gratitude , Sorry , way to go,  Brilliant , children will apply them in their communication & add new words to  their language .

Go around & ask each other which words would children like to hear about themselves from their teachers parents & relations , some vocabulary words can definitely support or hinder child’s progress , for example use of words like , fool , stupid , lazy , dull will make a way  for more negative attitude & words ,

As children grow developmental feedback in form of words is important for the self esteem of children .

Kindergarten  Vocabulary

Teachers & parents must introspect if they have used new words to improve and add onto child’s vocabulary with due focus on politeness and kindness , usage of specific words can drill the language in child’s mind . Avoid using words you think can pull down the child like you are so messy , always crying dirty ect . Replace them with encouraging word. Like excellent you are a start WOW! Etc.

Expand Vocabulary & thinking in formative years .

The tone of talking and selection of words carry over into adulthood , where children have to compete as well as build rapport and vocabulary becomes important tool  to interact  with others Family ethos , culture and school’s performance is reflected in child’s choice  of words.

Learn the language .

Mentors need to be mindful about various communication styles . Furthermore , care givers & elder family members should be sensitive to gender biases in language .

SELECTION OF VOCABULARY .

Gendered language is everywhere which can perpetuate stereotypes e.g. boys don’t play house house , girls don’t go out in the sun .
